About us
Real people teaching real classes — in Ottawa.
We're not an app. We're not a chatbot. We're a small team of Ottawa instructors who sit beside you, in person, and answer every question — no matter how small.
Who runs Smarten Up Ottawa
Smarten Up Ottawa is run by Ottawa-area instructors who have spent years patiently teaching family, friends, and neighbours how to use technology without feeling rushed or judged. We saw too many people get talked down to, charged a fortune for "tech support" they didn't understand, or worse — handed over their passwords to a stranger. So we built something different.
Why we do this
Technology should not be a barrier between you and your grandkids, your bank, or your doctor. It should be a bridge. But that bridge only works if someone walks across it with you — slowly, patiently, the way a good teacher does. That's our entire job.
Our promise to every student
- Background-checked. Every instructor has a current police records check on file.
- We never ask for your passwords. You type, we explain. We don't ask for banking access or remote control of your computer. Ever.
- A real human picks up. Stuck between classes? Call us at 613-837-4488. No phone trees, no "press 1 for…" — just a person.
